Compared with routine bathing , decolonization with universal chlorhexidine bathing and targeted mupirocin for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) carriers did not significantly reduce multidrug-resistant organisms in non-critical-care hospital patients in general medical and surgical units in the ABATE Infection trial published in The Lancet, online March 5, 2018.
