Democracy is a government of the people, for the people and by the people. Good governance is important for the development of the people and therefore of the country.

Good governance evidently requires a good ruling party; but, good governance also means a strong and constructive opposition.

The people are all powerful in a democracy and their participation in this process is important.

Hence, one should vote for an individual in their constituency. If he wins and becomes a part of the ruling party he will do good for the nation and even if he loses he will still do good for the nation being in the opposition.

In Sat Yuga, there were both asuras and devtas; Tretya Yuga had both Rama and Ravana and in Dwapar Yuga, Krishna and Kansa existed at the same time.

In today’s Kali Yuga we need both: good rulers and good opposition. Ravana (opposition) was a scholar until he lost control over his ego.

If the opposition is not strong, the leaders of the ruling party are likely to become egoistic and will lose control over their consciousness.

Our Vedas mention both asuras and devtas at the same time. The mind also has positive and negative thoughts at the same time. The purpose of life therefore is to create a balance.
