Mandukya Upanishad talks about four types of sleep and four types of consciousness.

The first is the awake state, where one interacts with all the senses. Second is the dream state of consciousness, which is REM sleep and sympathetic in nature. Deep non-REM sleep is the third state where the body is resting in a parasympathetic state.

The fourth is restful alertness or turya state of consciousness, where one is connected to the soul consciousness in an extreme degree of parasympathetic state.

Understanding dreams

  • Those who believe in the theory of parallel universes, for them dreams represent our simultaneous presence and connections in other universes
  • Dreams in the REM state represent the arousal of unfulfilled intents or past guilts.
  • In the language of Quantum qualia, dreams represent the connection of the mind with the soul where you catch signals of the nature representing meaningful coincidences.
