  • Doctors should unite and stop bowing down to the politicians and administrators and making home visits and vying with each other as to who pleases netaji more by holding their pulse, urine and stool samples.

Any neta calling any doctor whether in govt. hospital or private set up to come and see him at home, should be politely refused and should be asked to come to the hospital so that complete check-up can be done. We should stop treating them as VIPs and they will then stop treating us shabbily.

When we dont respect ourselves, how will others respect us?

It is not written in the service manual of govt. doctors that they have to attend patients at home so why do they go?  For petty gains... and bow down before them. How and why will they respect our community leave alone govt doctors?

We should stop being meek, weak and soft targets for everyone and instead should be bold and uphold our dignity.

  • No politician or administrator or so-called VIPs should be given free consultation and should be charged like the common public. Free consultation or treatment is a way of bribing the powerful in cash or kind and this mind set has to go now if we want respect from the society. To us, the meek and powerful are equal, so why should we charge the poor meek and serve the powerful who are economically 1000 times stronger than us?

Once we take this stand as a nation, believe me our respect in society will increase 100 times in society.  But even this point should be taken at national level by IMA and doctors should remain united.

If doctors unite, we can change the perception of doctors in the eyes of public. Those who can take on the powerful are considered bold and bold are always respected in the society. We can no longer remain meek and soft targets for eternity.

  • Last but not the least, we should as a community stop giving free service for their health check-up camps. These camps are total exploitation of doctors by the lords of the society who bask in the glory of social service at the cost of one cup of tea and a sandwich to the doctor who has given his family time of Sunday and his expertise to them. This demeaning practice should be stopped by all the doctors immediately at the national level.

If all the doctors unite in true sense and spirit, we can regain our lost glory to some extent.

Long live IMA and doctors of India…
