Results a study show that adult smokers who primarily used non-tobacco-flavored JUUL products were more likely to have successfully switched from smoking combustible cigarettes over a 6-month period compared to those who primarily used tobacco-flavored JUUL products.

Secondhand vaping emissions are much less toxic than cigarette smoke

The study found about 99% less formaldehyde and carbon monoxide in the air exhaled by e-cigarette users than by traditional smokers. High levels of propylene glycol, a key ingredient in e-liquids, were found in the air exhaled by e-cigarette users compared with secondhand smoke. However, secondhand emissions of nicotine produced by e-cigarettes were found to be 91% to 95% less than those produced by smoking.

The study, which was limited to 30 participants and conducted by a third-party lab, was presented by Juul, as a poster, at the recently concluded 6th Global Forum on Nicotine in Warsaw, Poland.

The trial is one of the many medical studies Juul is commissioning as it prepares to apply for approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2022.
