There is a well-known doha (couplet) from Sant Kabir, which goes as follows:

“Kaal Kare So Aaj Kar, Aaj Kare So Ub

Pal Mein Pralaya Hoyegi, Bahuri Karoge Kub”

This translates as:

Tomorrow’s work do today, todays work now

If the moment is lost, the work be done how

 “Pal mein pralaya hoyegi”, this denotes that cells are being lost (apoptosis) every moment and new cells are appearing every moment.

Vedic philosophy also says that the nature of new cells is decided by the last thoughts of the dying cell. Therefore, live every moment of the life.

Chapter 2.27 of Bhagavad Gita also says:

जातस्य हि ध्रुवो मृत्युर्ध्रुवं जन्म मृतस्य च |तस्मादपरिहार्येऽर्थे न त्वं शोचितुमर्हसि || 27||

jātasya hi dhruvo mityur dhruva janma mitasya chatasmād aparihārye ’rthe na tva śhochitum arhasi

At the cellular level it means that death is certain for the cell which has been born, and rebirth is inevitable for one the cell which has died. Therefore, you should not lament over the inevitable (and live every moment of the life).

We postpone matters because we are indecisive. It is this lethargy, which Kabir is condemning in this doha.

Mindfulness living is living in the present.

The word “hesitancy” is now an established factor in public health, especially when it comes to vaccine hesitancy or the reluctance or refusal to vaccinate despite the availability of vaccines. Vaccine hesitancy has been listed as one of the top 10 global threats to health in 2019. Hesitancy may also come into play in seeking treatment for TB, which is still associated with stigma.
