Youth with gender dysphoria may be at increased risk for developing type 1 diabetes, new observational research suggests.
The study of more than 2000 individuals aged 10 to 21 years at a single institution was published online November 22 in Pediatric Diabetes. The prevalence of type 1 diabetes among youth with gender dysphoria was a staggering nine-fold higher than among those without it.
