Is there a law for curbing noise pollution in hospitals?

Yes. The Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000 (hereinafter referred to as “Noise Rules, 2000”) have been enacted and enforced in India with the objective of to regulation and control of noise producing and generating sources in order to maintain the ambient air quality standards in respect of noise.

Noise Rules, 2000 are also applicable on hospitals. The Noise Rules, 2000 define hospitals as an “institution for the reception and care of sick, wounded, infirm or aged persons and includes government or private hospitals, nursing homes and clinics.”
