Coronavirus continues to spread in India; Goa reports its 1st three cases

The coronavirus has spread to Goa and has reported 3 cases. In Northeast India, Manipur and Mizoram confirmed one case in each state. On Wednesday, 20 states and Union Territories have reported 94 fresh cases of COVID-19.

Two more deaths has been confirmed, an 85-year-old woman from Ahmedabad and another death in Tamil Nadu, took the national death toll to 13 from the coronavirus.

The total coronavirus confirmed cases in India has reached 656. Almost 60 new cases are been reported in the last 5 days. A total of 56 patients have recovered so far. The health ministry has reported 606 cases and 10 deaths till now. The 3 positive cases in Goa are all male, aged 25, 29 and 55 years, respectively. They had recently returned to Goa from Spain, Australia and the US, respectively.

State health & family welfare department officials said that the Ahmedabad’s victim was from Danilimda area and had a travel history to Mecca in Saudi Arabia. She was admitted to the Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad on 22nd March for bilateral pneumonia.

Maharashtra again has overtaken Kerala as the worst coronavirus-hit state with 15 new confirmed cases. State authorities have reported 122 cases while Kerala has reported 118 cases. Karnataka has 51 cases, Telangana has 41 cases, UP, Gujarat and Rajasthan has 38 each, respectively. Delhi, which haven’t reported a single case of coronavirus in the past 2 days, has confirmed 5 new cases on Wednesday, taking the total to 35 confirmed cases.

Of the 5 new cases, 3 are related to the Saudi-returned woman who was tested positive on 17th March, and 2 other people are residents of Sainik Farms in Delhi with travel history to Brazil and London.

The Delhi patient who died on Tuesday was tested negative for coronavirus and hence was excluded from the list of coronavirus deaths. Only 1 death has taken place in the city due to coronavirus, according to a health ministry official.

Mizoram has reported its 1st COVID-19 case, of a 50-year-old pastor who had returned from the Netherlands on 16th March. The pastor belongs to the Mizoram Baptist Church and his wife and 2 children are shifted to the isolation ward at Zoram Medical College in Falkawn, which is about 20 km south of the capital. The pastor’s samples were tested at the Gauhati Medical College laboratory.

Manipur had also reported a confirmed coronavirus case on Tuesday.
