The Atopic Dermatitis Control Tool (ADCT) is a short patient self-administered instrument which is designed and validated to evaluate atopic dermatitis (AD) control.

Data were collected from a prospective, longitudinal patient survey study of effectiveness of dupilumab in patients with AD. Eligible patients completed a baseline survey before starting on dupilumab and were followed at 1, 2, 3, and 6 months post-initiation.

Six AD symptoms and effects were assessed over a week, including overall severity of symptoms, days with intense events of itching, intensity of anxiety, sleep problems, impact on daily and routine activities, and impact on mood.

Increased correlations were found between the ADCT and the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI). The ability of the ADCT to identify change was confirmed and the threshold for meaningful change was estimated to be 5 points. Also, test-retest reliability was confirmed in subgroups of patients with stable PGAD responses.

The survey findings confirmed that the ADCT is a valid and reliable tool for evaluating AD control.
