There were three big fish living in a lake who were very close friends. They were quite different from one another. The first one believed in fate and thought that things cannot be changed; what had to happen will happen, no matter what, he thought. The second one was intelligent. He was confident that he knew how to solve a problem with his intelligence. The third one was the wise one and thought long and hard before acting.

One day, the wise fish was happily playing around in the water, when it overheard a fisherman talking to another. They were discussing how the lake was full of big fish. They were planning to come the next day and catch the fish.

He rushed to his friends to share the news. He said that they should get out of this lake before those fishermen come back. He knew of a canal which could take them to another lake.

The intelligent fish said that he knew what to do if the fishermen came and caught him.

The fish which believed in fate said that whatever had to happen will happen. He further stated that he was born in this lake and was not going to leave it. The wise fish didnt want to risk his life, and took the canal to go to another lake.

The fishermen cast their net the next morning. The rest of the two friends were caught in it along with several other fish.

The intelligent fish thought of an excellent way to escape. It acted as if it were dead. The fishermen threw him back with other dead fish into the lake. The third fish which believed in fate was still caught in the net and the fishermen struck him dead.

Moral: Intelligence wins over might.
