NEW DELHI: Markets regulator Sebi has strongly "censured" Astrazeneca Pharma India LtdNSE 5.87 %s promoter and Elliot Group for professional misconduct and following unfair trade practices during the companys delisting plan in 2014.The regulator, in a 65-page order, said that Astrazeneca Pharma India Ltds (AZPIL) promoter AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals AB Sweden (AZPAB), and Elliott Group, which held 15.52 per cent stake in the company, had a private arrangement to sail through the delisting process.

Centre relaxes norms for import of certain drugs

The Union health ministry has issued a draft notification to allow import and manufacturing of certain unapproved drugs on compassionate grounds in small volumes based on a prescription from a medical institution. The move is aimed at making experimental drugs for treating coronavirus disease (Covid-19) accessible for severely-ill patients in India.In the draft gazette notification issued on June 5, the health ministry amended the New Drugs and Clinical Trials Rules, 2019, in consultation with the Drugs Technical Advisory Board, which advises the government on all drug-related matters.

Former Indian Medical Association (IMA) chief Dr KK Aggarwal has moved the Delhi High Court challenging the Delhi governments decision of excluding "asymptomatic patients or pre-symptomatic patients" from Covid-19 testing. The Division Bench of Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Subramonium Prasad on Monday will hear the petition of Dr Aggarwal. The former IMA chief is seeking to quash the Delhi governments order dated June 2 stating that getting a medical test done is a "fundamental right" of every citizen.
