The World Health Organization (WHO) has welcomed the initial clinical trial results showing that dexamethasone can be a lifesaving option for patients critically ill with COVID-19.

For patients on ventilators, treatment with dexamethasone was found to reduce mortality by about one third, and for patients requiring only oxygen, mortality was reduced by about one fifth, reported the preliminary findings. The benefit was only seen in patients seriously ill with COVID-19, and not in patients with milder disease… (WHO, June 16, 2020)
