Washington: Administering the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine may diminish septic inflammation associated with the COVID-19 infection, say researchers.
Vaccination with MMR in immunocompetent individuals has no contraindications and could possibly be effective for healthcare workers who are particularly easily exposed to COVID-19, said experts in a paper published in mBio, a journal of the American Society for Microbiology. The researchers intend to have a clinical trial to test the efficacy of MMR vaccine in providing protection against COVID-19 and, in the meantime, suggest that all adults, healthcare workers and individuals in nursing homes, in particular, get the vaccine… (ET Healthworld – IANS, June 22, 2020)
