Ahmedabad staring Remdesivir shortage in the face

AHMEDABAD: Remdesivir, an antiviral administered to the Covid-19 patients in ICUs, is reported to be in short supply in the city and state. The medical organizations are going to make a representation before the state government and drug manufacturers in this regard.Dr Bharat Gadhvi, president of Ahmedabad Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (AHNA), said that Remdesivir is one of the two antivirals – the other being Favipiravir – used in the Covid-19 treatment.,“Remdesivir, however, is more in demand as it’s generally administered to the patients in ICUs,” Dr Gadhvi said.“For the past few days, it’s been difficult to get hold of the drug. When we approached the major dealers, we got to know that the next stock would take at least a week to arrive. KKR to buy 54% controlling stake in JB Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals; open offer to be launched

Global investment firm KKR will buy a 54% equity stake in JB Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals, a Mumbai based pharmaceutical major for Rs 3,109 crore. KKR will make the investment through its subsidiaries, Tau Investments Holdings Pte. Ltd., Tau Holdco Pte. Ltd., and KKR Asia III Fund Investments Pte. The deal will see KKR acquire 4.17 crore fully paid-up equity shares of the face value of Rs. 2 for a price of Rs 745 per share, a premium of 4% from the closing price of the stock on the BSE at the end of Thursday’s trading session.Further, KKR will launch an open offer to acquire an additional 26% stake in the company or 2.09 crore full paid-up equity shares. The open offer will also be made at a price of Rs 745 per share, said JB Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals in a statement to the stock exchanges on Thursday If successful the open offer will add another Rs 1,496 crore to the deal, taking the total value of the deal to Rs 4,605 crore.

The viral clip shows the doctor dancing while wearing a PPE kit, leaving many amused.

Allow all doctors to prescribe COVID-tests: Centre to states

New Delhi: Citing under-utilisation of COVID lab facilities, the Centre has advised states and UTs to enable all qualified medical practitioners, including private practitioners, to prescribe coronavirus test to any individual fulfilling the criteria for testing as per the ICMR guidelines which will prevent any delay.In a letter jointly written by Union Health Secretary Preeti Sudan and ICMR Director General Dr Balram Bhargava, it was pointed out that in some states and UTs, the capacity utilization of the testing labs, particularly the ones in private sector, is "grossly sub-optimal".
