No hosp screening for asymptomatic +ve patients now

Nagpur: With city and district administrations implementing the policy of home isolation for asymptomatic positive patients, entire focus was shifted to taking care of symptomatic and severe patients on Tuesday. It had been decided to screen all positive patients at government hospitals, and discharge those clinically assigned as asymptomatic for 17 days of home isolation.By evening, the Covid Care Centres (CCCs) were asked not to refer any ‘asymptomatic’ positive patients for screening to government hospitals, and instead discharge them based on examination of in-house medical staff. However, doctors said none of the CCCs have a physician, X-ray and ECG machines, and lab for analysing a patient as asymptomatic. The staff includes mostly BAMS doctors and paramedics. ....read more

This time may be no different, say industry watchers, adding, however, that Covid-19 could have changed things — the rising US toll from the novel coronavirus has hammered home the message of affordable and accessible healthcare. ,The US President’s meeting with drug company heads comes after he signed four executive orders on drug pricing late last week. The aim was to get less expensive drugs for Americans by pricing them along the lines of that paid in other countries.

Most of the large Indian pharma companies have faced some serious issues with USFDA inspection recently. Indian pharma companies are supplying to US market from the late 90s and early 2000s. However, a series of objectionable USFDA inspection outcome is quite a recent phenomenon for about the last five to seven years. A logical question arises that what has fundamentally changed that suddenly Indian companies are facing serious issues with USFDA inspection.An analysis of the past outcome of USFDA inspections until about 2013-14, shows most of the inspections of Indian pharma companies were classified as either no action initiated (NAI) or voluntary action initiated (VAI). NAI is when at the conclusion of the inspection, no 483 is issued whereas in VAI 483s are issued but USFDA considers that the deficiencies can be mitigated by the firm voluntarily and no adversary official action is required. Today, Indian pharma companies supply about 40 per cent by volume finished dosage pharma products of the US market. So, from the perspective of public safety, regulators in the US are giving much importance to overseas manufacturers like in India. The yardstick and regulatory requirements have also changed dramatically. Most of the Indian companies have failed to improve procedures and processes as the FDA increased the scrutiny.

It also said that the state reached the tally of over 10,500 tele consultations on Monday due to the consecutive participation of over 1000 patients in the last two days.In the data released by the Ministry of Health, the state of Uttar Pradesh has completed over 10000 teleconsultations under the eSanjeevaniOPD initiative. With a lot of hospitals turning into dedicated Covid-19 hospitals and the dread of infection keeping patients away from the hospitals, patients are increasingly using the video teleconsultation facility being provided under the scheme to consult with doctors. With over 1000 patients using the platform in the last two days from the state, Uttar Pradesh came in the club of states which have registered more than 10000 teleconsultations of patients with the doctors.
