Dr VK Bahl appointed as Principal Director, Cardiac Sciences, at Max Super Speciality Hospital

We, at emedinews.in, extend our heartiest congratulations to Dr VK Bahl, for being appointed as Principal Director, Cardiac Sciences, at Max Super Speciality Hospital from August 1, 2020.

Dr VK Bahl is an eminent Cardiologist of the country and has contributed immensely to the field of Cardiology. After obtaining his Post Doctoral (DM) degree in Cardiology from Maulana Azad Medical College in 1983, he was trained in the field of Interventional Cardiology at United Kingdom in 1989 and in the field of Electrophysiology at University of Wisconsin, USA in 1994. In 1998, he was appointed as Short-Term Consultant by WHO for teaching and training of Cardiologists at North Korea.

He has numerous awards and accolades to his name, including “Searl Award” in 1984 by Cardiological Society of India and “DP Basu Award” in 1985 by Cardiological Society of India. For his pioneering work in the field of rheumatic mitral valvuloplasty, he was awarded “Amrut Mody Unichem Prize” in 1994 by the Indian Council of Medical Research.

He had been serving as Dean (Academics) at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi since 2018. Dr Bahl has many firsts to his credit in the field of Cardiology. He established normal indices of diastolic function as assessed by Doppler echocardiography for the first time in the country. He also undertook several complex interventions for the first time in India, including percutaneous mitral valvuloplasty, retrograde non-transseptal balloon mitral valvotomy, leadless pacemaker, etc.

Over the years, he has been actively involved in both out-patient and in-patient care of large number of cardiac patients from all over the country as well as from the neighboring countries.

Once again, we congratulate Dr VK Bahl for his new role as Principal Director, Cardiac Sciences, at Max Super Specialty Hospital and for his incessant selfless service to the field of Cardiology and the society at large.
