Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) while caring for patients with COVID-19 does not seem to be enough to completely eradicate the threat from the virus for frontline workers, suggests a new study from Kings College London.

Healthcare workers with adequate gloves, gowns and face masks were still found to have 3.4 times the risk of contracting the coronavirus compared to the general population, and minority healthcare workers appeared to have an even greater risk of testing positive. According to the study, African American, Latino and other minority care providers had a 5 times greater risk of contracting COVID-19 compared to their White counterparts… (CNN August 1, 2020)
