Covid-19: Be ready to give out vaccine by Nov 1, CDC tells all US states

WASHINGTON: The US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention has notified public health officials in all 50 states and five large cities to prepare to distribute a coronavirus vaccine to health workers and other high-risk groups as soon as late October or early November. The documents were sent out on the same day President Trump said in his speech at the Republican Convention on August 27 that a vaccine might arrive before the end of the year. Experts agree that agencies at all levels of government should urgently prepare for the vast and complex effort to vaccinate hundreds of millions of Americans. But the possibility of a rollout in late October or early November has heightened concerns that the Trump administration is seeking to rush the distribution before Election Day on November 3. Saskia Popescu, an infection prevention epidemiologist, said: “It’s hard not to see this as a push for pre-election vaccine.” ....read more

The vast power of the Spirit

Om Poornamadah Poornamidam, Poornaat PoornamudachyatePoornasya Poornamaadaaya, Poornameva Avasihyate”The whole is whole; if you take away the whole away from the whole, the whole will still remain (That is infinite, this is infinite, from the infinite, the infinite has come out. Having taken the infinite out of the infinite, the infinite alone remains). (In Vedanta “That” represents super consciousness, God or the Brahman and “This” the visible universe) Atman, which makes up our body, is 99.99% space and if we look at the rest, it is also nothing but space or void. This void or ‘akasha’ is what is called Brahman, God or consciousness and is a web of energized information. This web of information of inner space, called inner consciousness, is the Atman or the Soul. This is connected with the outer space in the universe having a similar web of energized information called the Spirit or Brahmand. ....read more

Pharmexcil to request inclusion of plant inspection and licensing fee under RoDTEP

Express Pharma

The Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India is planning to request the government to include the plant inspection and licensing fee under the Remission of Duties or Taxes on Export Products (RoDTEP). It has requested the industry to submit the data of all levies and taxes including embedded taxes. The new RoDTEP scheme will replace the Merchandise Export from India Scheme (MEIS) scheme as the latter violated the WTO norms. Under the new scheme, the incentives will not be directly paid on the value of exports but will be limited to credit against the tax on items such as power, logistics, fuel and toll etc. Under the MEIS scheme, the pharma sector was one of the biggest beneficiaries as it exported close to $20 billion worth of products. As per the scheme, pharma products received three per cent incentive on Free – on – Board (FOB) value for exports to Category A countries (US, Canada, Europe) and Category B countries (Emerging markets such as Russia, CIS etc.), while exports to category C countries did not get any incentives.

The case, registered in Bengaluru, has seen 14 other accused convicted, and subsequently released from prison in 2016 after they pleaded guilty.

He is not the only one of his fraternity reaching out to patients in this manner. In fact, the number of calls to doctors has doubled ever since the pandemic began. An expert in medicine, Prof Usman gets calls from diabetics too as diabetes is a comorbidity that has been diagnosed in about 50% of those who have died in the corona wards of hospitals.
