New Delhi: The Central Government moved to standardize protocols of the fertility industry and introduced the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Bill, 2020, in the Lok Sabha on the first day of the monsoon session of the Parliament.

The ART Bill mandates all fertility clinics and banks in India to register themselves with a national registering authority and report all procedures undertaken on a periodic basis. The Bill also lays down strict age limit for men and women who can avail the assisted reproductive technology services. Assisted reproductive technologies can be availed of by any woman above marriageable age but less than 50 years old and any man above marriageable age but less than 55 years of age.Only married women with a child aged three years can be an egg donor and can do it only once in her lifetime… (ET Healthworld, September 15, 2020)
