New Delhi: Feluda, the world’s first CRISPR Cas-9 (gene-editing tool)-based diagnostic test for COVID-19, will be available in Delhi-NCR from the first week of December and will soon be rolled out in Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Pune, there after. This would considerably increase the country’s testing capacities.
The test has been developed indigenously by the CSIR’s constituent lab, Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (CSIR-IGIB). It will be available in the remaining cities across the country later in a phased manner. The test can give results in 6-7 hours and will be priced on the basis of the respective state government guidelines. The test is affordable, relatively easy to use and also has the advantage of non-dependency on expensive Q-PCR machines… (ET Healthworld – TNN, November 20, 2020)
