The state is reviewing its guidelines for catering to the psychological impact of the pandemic; rules will also apply to healthcare staff who are toiling tirelessly In the light of the rising complaints of mental health issues surfacing at the post-Covid care clinics, the state public health department has revised its approach to address this aspect even when a patient is being treated for the virus. Guidelines will be shortly issued across the state for sussing out the mental health condition of patients undergoing treatment for Covid-19 and start tackling them involving relevant experts. ACE2 is known to be highly expressed in the bowel. As per Dr. Dermot P. B. McGovern of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, ACE2 expression is altered in IBD and is linked with response to the anti-cytokine drug, infliximab. A paper published in Cell suggests that individuals with COVID-19 have high TNF levels and that mouse models were relatively protected from some of the COVID-19-like manifestations following treatment with neutralizing antibodies to TNF. COVID-19 vaccine: SII CEO Poonawalla makes big announcement after PM Modi visit

Hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Pune-based pharma company Serum Institute of India (SII) on Saturday (November 28), the companys CEO Adar Poonawalla said that his company will seek permission for emergency use authorization of Covishield in the next two weeks. Few days, SII CEO Poonawalla had said that that the company is focused on supplying vaccines to India first. "It is very important we take care of our country first, then go on to Covax after that and then other bilateral deals with countries. So Ive kept it in that priority," Poonawalla had told reporters.

To tackle the novel coronavirus pandemic, several health protocols have been put in place, which will stay for a long time and people will have to keep wearing masks even after a Covid-19 vaccine is available, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) chief professor Balram Bhargava said on Saturday. The ICMR chief who was speaking at a webinar hosted by Lucknows King Georges Medical University (KGMU) has said that the country is making a rapid progress as far as the development of a coronavirus vaccine is concerned.

Doctor found murdered in Avanigadda

A doctor, K. Srihari Rao (65), was found murdered in his house here on Saturday. The body was found in a pool of blood in his bedroom. He was running Lakshmi Nursing Home in the town. The assailants reportedly managed to turn off the CCTVs and allegedly committed the crime when the doctor was alone at home. Clues team and sniffer dog teams were pressed into service. Senior police officials visited the house which is in the same building that houses the nursing home. Police are enquiring if any nursing staff and night watchman were on duty at the hospital, and took a few suspects into custody for questioning.
