Over 1 million Americans have been vaccinated against COVID-19, as Tennessee emerged beside California as an epicenter of the latest COVID-19 surge.
The CDC stated that as of Wednesday morning over 1 million people across the country had received the first of the two doses required for the two COVID-19 vaccines that have been approved. However, most Americans will have to wait as it could be six months or more before they are eligible for vaccination since priority is given to healthcare workers, nursing home residents and top government officials in certain cases.
Meanwhile, Tennessee averaged around 128 new infections per 100,000 people over the last week, the highest in the U.S., while California was second with 111 new cases per 100,000 residents… (Reuters, December 24, 2020)
