India reported 110 new COVID-19 cases per million population in last 7 days: Health Ministry data

With a steep decline in India’s daily count of COVID-19 cases, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Wednesday released data, comparing India’s new cases per million population over the last seven days with those in some of the world’s worst-affected countries. India presently has the second highest number of COVID-19 cases in the world.

The data suggests that the country reported only 110 cases per million population, one of the lowest in the world, and the lowest among the countries compared, in the last seven days. The United States and the United Kingdom reported 3,964 and 3,656 cases, respectively, per million population. Italy recorded 1,563 cases per million population, followed by Russia with 1,373, France with 1,304 and Brazil with 1,189… (HT, December 30, 2020)
