Mexico Approves AstraZeneca-Oxford COVID-19 Vaccine

On Monday, Mexico authorized the COVID-19 vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford for emergency use in the country.

Hugo Lopez-Gatell, Deputy Health Minister, announced that Mexican regulators had approved the vaccine, which has also been authorized by Britain, India and Argentina. Lopez-Gastell stated that the vaccine could be available in March in the country. Mexico had already started a mass immunization program with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine on December 24, with priority given to health workers. Around 30,000 workers had received the vaccine dose by Sunday, as per government data.
