50 birds die in Delhi, avian flu angle being probed

Amid a bird flu scare, nearly 50 birds, mostly crows, have reportedly died in Delhi over the last three to four days, stated officials on Friday.

Dr Rakesh Singh from the animal husbandry unit of the development department stated that they received information about the death of crows in Dwarka and Mayur Vihar Phase 3 as well as some wild birds in Hastsal in West Delhi. It is yet to be determined if bird flu infection is the reason behind the deaths, he said. Samples were collected from the three areas and were sent to a designated laboratory in Jalandhar, Punjab. Overall, 100 samples of poultry birds have also been collected from across the city… (ET Healthworld – PTI, January 9, 2021)
