January likely to be the deadliest month of COVID-19 in the US at this rate

It took about 90 days for the United States to reach its first 2 million COVID-19 cases last year. However, it took just 10 days to reach 2.2 million cases in 2021, suggest data from Johns Hopkins University, as new infections, hospitalizations and deaths keep rising.

Over 27,000 new COVID-19 deaths have been reported in the first 10 days of 2021, reveal Johns Hopkins data. At the current rate, more people could die from COVID-19 in January than any other month during this pandemic. December reported the record number of 77,431 deaths due to COVID-19.
