The shipment of Serum Institute of India’s Covishield vaccine set out from Pune to other parts of the country on Tuesday morning, starting the biggest rollout of a vaccine in the history of this country.

Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad received the Covishield doses within 10 hours since the dispatch began from the SII premises at 4.30am on Tuesday. A total of 55 lakh of the 1.1 crore doses were dispatched from the SII premises till Tuesday 5pm.

In addition, Covaxin doses will also be shipped to nearly 11 destinations across the country, including Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Patna, Lucknow and Jaipur, stated sources in Bharat Biotech and the aviation industry… (ET Healthworld – TNN, January 13, 2021)
