Interchange ability of COVID-19 vaccines not allowed: Health Ministry

Interchange ability of COVID-19 vaccines is not allowed and pregnant and lactating women should not be given the vaccine as they have not been included in any anti-COVID vaccine clinical trial so far, stated the health ministry.

In a letter to all states and Union territories, the ministry stated that under the emergency use authorization, the COVID-19 vaccination is indicated only for those aged 18 years and above. Additionally, the COVID-19 vaccine and other vaccines should be separated by an interval of at least 14 days, if needed. Detailing the contraindications, the ministry warned against vaccinating individuals with a history of anaphylactic or allergic reaction to a previous dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and individuals with immediate or delayed onset anaphylaxis or allergic reaction to vaccines or injectable therapies, pharmaceutical products, food items, among others… (ET Healthworld – PTI, January 15, 2021)
