Total COVID-19 Deaths Cross 2 Million Globally

Total confirmed deaths from COVID-19 around the world crossed the two million mark on Friday, as per an AFP tally.

As of 1825 GMT on Friday, 2,000,066 people have died of the coronavirus, as per the count based on official figures obtained from authorities. A total of 93,321,070 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed globally since the start of the pandemic, as per the AFP count. Europe has recorded the most deaths due to the pandemic with the toll standing at 650,560 to date. Latin America and the Caribbean have reported 542,410 deaths, while the United States and Canada have reported 407,090. The countries that have recorded the highest death toll include the United States (389,581), Brazil (207,095), India (151,918), Mexico (137,916), Britain (87,295) and Italy (81,325)… (NDTV - Agence France-Presse, January 16, 2021)
