India recorded the second sharpest week-on-week decline in new COVID-19 cases thus far, with a 16.6% decline in the current week’s tally over the previous seven days.

This represents the tenth consecutive week of dip in COVID-19 cases in India and the 17th week of falling numbers out of the 18 weeks since the pandemic reached a peak in the country. During the week from January 11-17, a little over 1,05,000 new COVID-19 cases were identified, the lowest weekly count since June 15-21. There was a decline of nearly 21,000 from the previous week’s count of around 1,26,043.
