Hong Kong is going to place thousands of people in a lockdown to curb a new outbreak of COVID-19. This is the first such measure that the city has taken since the onset of the pandemic.

South China Morning Post stated that the step will target Jordan and Sham Shui Po districts that cover a densely populated part of the Kowloon Peninsula. The districts have several ageing, subdivided flats which provide the ideal environment for spread of the virus.
