New Zealand investigates first probable community case of COVID-19 in months

Health officials in New Zealand were probing what according to them was perhaps the first community COVID-19 case in the country in months, in a woman who recently returned from overseas.

The 56-year-old patient returned to New Zealand on December 30. She tested positive for COVID-19 days after ending a two-week mandatory quarantine at the border where she had tested negative two times. It is not clearly understood how the woman got infected or whether the infection is new. The woman tested positive several days after being released from the quarantine and has been at home since. Therefore, the authorities are treating it as a possible community case… (Reuters, January 24, 2021)
