At 3 deaths in 24 hours, Delhi’s COVID toll lowest in 9 months

Delhi recorded only three deaths from COVID-19 in the previous 24 hours, the lowest daily death toll from the disease in about nine months.

New COVID cases continued to remain low with 121 new infections reported in a day as the positivity rate reached close to 0.3%. The COVID toll was the lowest in the national capital on Monday since May 11, 2020, when no deaths were reported. Only 32 patients with COVID-19 required hospitalization, which was again the lowest over the last 10 months, stated Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain in a tweet.

The number of active COVID-19 cases has come down to 1,265 in the city. Overall, 10,856 people have succumbed to COVID-19 in Delhi, which represents the fourth highest number across states… (ET Healthworld – TNN, February 2, 2021)
