Over 100,000 people died of COVID-19 in the US since January 1, suggest data

Over 100,000 individuals have reportedly died of COVID-19 in the United States thus far in 2021, suggest data from the Johns Hopkins University.

Since January 1 this year, 100,317 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported in the US, taking the death toll in the country since the onset of the pandemic to 446,689 by Tuesday evening. The US has recorded the highest number of COVID-19 deaths, suggest JHU data. Brazil has recorded more than 200,000 deaths, while Mexico, India and the United Kingdom have recorded more than 100,000 deaths.

Meanwhile, the number of people who have been administered at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine has now surpassed the total number of COVID-19 cases recorded during the pandemic in the country.

While over 26.3 million COVID-19 cases have been reported over the past year, over 26.4 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in less than 2 months’ time… (CNN, February 3, 2021)
