Key workers and the vulnerable across 145 countries to receive COVID-19 vaccines under COVAX initiative

It has been confirmed that key workers as well as other vulnerable individuals across 145 countries will be receiving the COVID-19 vaccines in the first half of 2021, as part of the joint COVAX initiative led by the UN, which aims for fair access to COVID-19 vaccines.

This initiative will assist Governments in devising their vaccine distribution programs, by providing details about the vaccine that they may receive, from now till the end of June.

Around 1.2 million doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine will be delivered to 18 countries in the first quarter of 2021, out of a total of 40 million doses. Additionally, 336 million doses of the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine will be arranged to be delivered to almost all the countries that have signed up to the COVAX initiative, once it is approved for use by the WHO…(UN, February 3, 2021)
