7-day average of daily COVID-19 cases dips below 12,000 in India

The seven-day rolling average of daily COVID-19 infections in India declined to less than 12,000 on Thursday for the first time in around 8 months.

On Thursday, the seven-day average of daily cases came down to 11,815, which is the lowest since 11,757 cases on June 17, 2020. The country reported 12,431 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, with around half of them reported from Kerala. The state saw 6,102 fresh cases on Thursday. Maharashtra reported the second highest number of new cases, with 2,736 cases reported on the day. No other state recorded more than 500 cases. Deaths due to COVID-19 stood at 121 on Thursday, rising from 112 fatalities reported on the previous day… (ET Healthworld – TNN, February 5, 2021)
