New Zealand probes new COVID-19 case tied to quarantine facility

Health authorities in New Zealand are probing a new community COVID-19 infection, which is the fourth in a two weeks’ span in people who have completed the compulsory isolation at a quarantine facility for those who have returned from overseas.

The new case has been detected in an individual who was self-isolating at home in Hamilton, and had come out from a two-week hotel quarantine on January 30 after testing negative twice for COVID-19. Genome sequencing has been done to ascertain whether the new case has the South African coronavirus variant, which has already been identified in three other cases linked to the hotel quarantine… (Reuters, February 6, 2021)
