TedrosAdhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), stated that the number of COVID-19 cases has fallen for the fifth straight week across the world, emphasizing that simple public health measures do work, even if variants of the virus are circulating.

He said at a press briefing that last week recorded the lowest figures of weekly COVID-19 cases since October. He added that there has been a 50%decline this year, and what is important now is the way people respond to this trend.
