Among patients with moderate to severe COVID-19, length of hospital stay was no different for those given a single 200,000-IU dose of vitamin D3 compared to those given placebo, reported a randomized trial conducted in Brazil.

According to the trial, median length of hospital stay was nearly 7 days for both the groups. Additionally, there were no significant differences in secondary outcomes including in-hospital mortality, admission to ICU, or need for mechanical ventilation. The finding are published online in JAMA.
