  • Over its decade long existence, the Association of Physicians of India (API) has had a long-standing commitment to improving and uplifting the standard of healthcare in the country.
  • At the heart of its mission is patient care and wellbeing. To this end, they have undertaken numerous initiatives over several years and partnered with esteemed healthcare professionals to bring important issues in the healthcare industry to the forefront.
  • Until a decade ago, the entire physician education was highly fragmented without having a common approach with limited impact. APIDIAS was created to have a unified platform for providing high science evidence-based, accurate and unbiased information to healthcare professionals.
  • APIDIAS is a unified platform for dissemination of updated information through API speakers.
  • In 2013-14, API started a first of its kind CME initiative called APIDIAS. 
  • Since its inception, APIDIAS has touched upon numerous therapeutic areas with an aim to share information and best practices for efficient healthcare management.
  • COVID-19 completely transformed the delivery of CME initiatives.
  • COVID-19 has significantly enhanced the importance of technology in healthcare industry and helped gain a deeper understanding of the state of digital transformation in healthcare.
  • COVID-19 has enabled acceleration of innovation in healthcare.
  • COVID-19 has enabled healthcare community to leverage technology to improve quality, reduce costs, save time and ensure continuum of delivery of medical education amongst the community.
  • API DIAS 2020-21, A digital outreach program: The fourth edition of the program is focused on ‘Digital Outreach’. In 2020, due to an unprecedented challenge presented by the pandemic, APIDIAS transformed into a digital avatar.
  • Key achievement of APIDIAS 2020-21: 
  • Improving awareness about latest scientific developments/offering – 100+ hours of immersive scientific content delivered 
  • Enhancing geographical outreach of the program – 85000+ HCPs participated from APAC, MCI credit points allocated for each webinar
  • Enhancing access to quality CME content – 100+ top national, international speakers have delivered lectures
  • Enhancing quality of care by dissemination of best practices in healthcare management – Around 90 topics across multiple therapeutic areas covered already.
  • APIDIAS 2020-21 – A therapy shaping platform: This version of APIDIAS witnessed the launch of strategic initiatives such as white papers, book launches, guidelines, etc.
  • Launch of white paper on adult immunization by API in collaboration with MoHFW-GoI, RSSDI, GSI, FOGSI in the presence of 2000+ participating delegates
  • Launch of white paper on hyperuricemia by API in collaboration with RSSDI and Indian Society of Nephrology
  • Launch of India’s first guidelines on Thyroid and Diabetes by RSSDI
  • Launch of a book titled “Acid Peptic Disease and Beyond” by Dr Nageshwar Reddy.
  • APIDIAS webinars received accreditation from Maharashtra Medical Council. Attending each webinar has entitled physicians with 1 credit point each for the first time in India. 
  • This year’s edition of APIDIAS saw involvement of top stakeholders from government and private institutions.
  • Moving ahead – APIDIAS 2020-21 is left with a few more sessions which will push the benchmark further, disseminate latest information including best practices to HCPs for improvising patient outcomes, witness exemplary participation and in the process achieve greater heights.
  • This edition of APIDIAS is planned to successfully conclude on March 31, 2021.
  • Digitalization is the way forward. Let us come together to empower the community and make APIDIAS even bigger and better.
