India administered 1.4 million vaccine doses in the past 24 hours, the highest in a day since the campaign began in mid-January as the government strives to face additional changes. However, the country of 1.35 billion people still needs to almost double its current rate of vaccination to meet its target of covering 300 million people by August. The two vaccines used in India need to be given in two doses, four to six weeks apart.

IN this phase of vaccinations, the government has also included several private hospitals, allowing them to run vaccination campaigns throughout the day and assure that there is no dearth of vaccine shots in the world’s biggest vaccine-making country. (Reuters, March 5, 2021)
