Six states account for 86.25% of New COVID-19 Cases in India

Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Karnataka, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu are the states cumulatively accounting for 86.25% of the new COVID-19 cases reported over the previous 24 hours in the country, stated the Health Ministry on Monday.

Maharashtra recorded the highest daily fresh cases at 11,141, followed by Kerala with 2,100 cases and Punjab with 1,043 new cases, reported the ministry. High-level teams have been deputed to Maharashtra, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Jammu and Kashmir in a bid to provide support in their fight against the surge in COVID cases. Eight states and Union territories, including Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka and Haryana, have been showing an upward trend in daily new cases, with a weekly positivity rate more than the national average of 2.29%.
