More than 3 million vaccinated against COVID-19 in a day in India

India administered more than three million COVID-19 vaccine doses on Monday, the highest in a single day thus far. The figure is driven by the rising number of second doses and those above 60 years of age getting vaccinated.

Those aged above 60 who have received the vaccination crossed one crore in 15 days, stated the health ministry. On Tuesday, more than 19.11 lakh doses were administered till 7pm. The total number of vaccine doses administered thus far stands at 3.48 crore. About 1.5 crore healthcare and frontline workers have received at least one dose of the COVID-19, while 61.68 lakh have received the second dose. Only 50% of the estimated three crore healthcare and frontline workers appear to have been covered with the first vaccine dose till date… (ET Healthworld – TNN, March 17, 2021)
