Less Sleep, More Professional Burnout Tied to Higher Risk for COVID-19: Study

A new study, published online March 22 in BMJ Nutrition, Prevention and Health, has shown that more sleep at night, few or no sleep problems, and low levels of work-related burnout among healthcare workers who are considered to have a high risk for exposure to COVID-19 patients, seem to be linked with a reduced risk of developing COVID-19.

For every extra hour of sleep at night, the risk for COVID-19 declined by 12% in the study that included 2844 frontline healthcare workers. Participants who experienced work-related burnout had 2.6-fold greater likelihood of reporting having COVID-19, having the illness for a longer duration, and having more severe COVID-19… (Medscape)
