Curbs by India on Vaccine Export to Hit Poorest Nations

India has decided to cut back on the COVID-19 vaccine exports. The move will likely affect the worlds most disadvantaged countries the most.

India is the worlds biggest vaccine exporter and a key supplier to Covax, the global vaccine initiative. The country partners to deploy vaccine doses to every corner of the world. However, the country’s decision to limit vaccine shipments threatens the plans to vaccinate 2 billion people before the end of 2021. There has been increasing criticism over the speed of the country’s own inoculation drive. Additionally, there has been around 5 times rise in new COVID-19 infections over the past month.All this has led to the new decision… (NDTV – Bloomberg, March 26, 2021)
