Britain’s medicine regulator has granted approval for a 20-second COVID-19 test, stated the product’s distributor while launching a testing system that it said could be put to useat airports, sports venues and businesses.

A trial of the Virolens test, developed by British start-up iAbra and TT Electronics, was done at Heathrow Airport.The test uses swabs of saliva.Histateis distributing the test and intends to launch it immediately following the approval by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).The distributor stated that the test was found in trials to have 98.1% sensitivity, suggesting that it has few false negatives, and 99.7% specificity, which translates tofew false positives… (Reuters, March 26, 2021)
