Researchers with Imperial College London (ICL)s COVID-19 Response Team attempted at modeling what would happen with vaccine hesitancy and noted that despite the availability of highly effective vaccines against the virus, at the current levels of vaccine hesitancy in the United States, the country would need to continue with interventions like closing of workplaces and schools and wearing masks at least through the end of next year in order to keep the pandemic under control. It is also estimated that thousands of more people, both vaccinated and unvaccinated ones, could die and need hospital admission over the coming months because some people question the vaccines.
