WHO Recommends Not to Use Ivermectin in COVID-19 Patients

The World Health Organization has stated that ivermectin should not be used to treat patients with COVID-19.

The agency has issued guidelines stating that the drug should only be used in COVID-19 patients in clinical trial settings. According to WHO, there was a very low certainty of evidence on the drug’s effects on mortality, hospital admission and eliminating the virus from the body. The recommendation is applicable to COVID-19 patients with any disease severity and any duration of symptoms.

The agency assessed studies comparing ivermectin against placebo and other drugs in 16 randomized control trials involving 2,400 patients and stated that there was a lack convincing evidence of a mechanism of action for the drug in COVID-19… (NDTV - Agence France-Presse, March 31, 2021)
