India leads globally with over 34 lakh vaccine doses given per day

At an average of 34,30,502 COVID-19 vaccine doses being given each day, India leads globally in the number of doses being administered daily, stated the Union Health Ministry on Thursday. 

A cumulative total of 9,01,98,673 vaccine doses has been administered thus far across 13,77,304 sessions. The numbers include 89,68,151 healthcare workers (HCWs) and 97,67,538 frontline workers (FLWs) who have been administered their first dose and 54,18,084 HCWs and 44,11,609 FLWs who have been given the second dose. In addition to this, 3,63,32,851 and 11,39,291 individuals aged above 60 years have received the first and second vaccine dose, respectively. A total of 2,36,94,487 and 4,66,662 beneficiaries aged between 45 and 60 years have received the first and second dose, respectively… (ET Healthworld – PTI, April 8, 2021)
